Housing group unveils flagship homes scheme

18 June 2009

The Lawn offers 14 high quality one and two-bedroom apartments in the main house which are all being offered for sale through shared ownership.

Next to the house, a high quality sand stone development of 15 affordable homes has been built on a former garage and stable block. These apartments are being offered exclusively to residents over 55 yeas of age. Of these, five one-bedroom homes are available for shared ownership and the remaining 10 two bedroom flats are being offered for rent.

All 29 homes at The Lawn benefit from the latest contemporary design whilst capturing the unique character of the village development. Every home comes with a fitted new kitchen and bathroom, and full central heating systems. Attractive landscaped areas and parking form part of the development.

To celebrate the opening of The Lawn, Incommunities Group Chairman Martin Smith will hand over a giant key to Mathew Argyle of Ilkley who is one of the first people to buy a shared ownership home at the development.

The scheme costing £2.7 million was supported by a grant from the national housing and regeneration body, Homes and Communities Agency and was built by West Yorkshire building contractors, The Strategic Team Group.

The plans were developed in consultation with the Aire-Wharfe Local Management Trust (part of Incommunities), Burley Parish Council and Bradford Council.

Geraldine Howley, Incommunities Group Chief Executive said: “This major investment will provide much needed affordable homes and offer a choice of tenure to meet the needs of residents wanting to get onto the property ladder and older people looking to move into an attractive village property.

“We have worked closely with local partners including Burley Parish Council, Bradford Council and contractors Strategic Team Group to deliver this prestigious development.”

Martin Smith, Incommunities Group Chairman said: “This development has brought back into use a well-known village property for the benefit of people looking for high quality affordable homes in the area.

“The scheme has only recently been completed and we are delighted to be welcoming the first residents. There has been a great deal of interest in the new homes.

“The Lawn continues Incommunities significant investment in the area which includes the current modernisation of over 130 homes in Burley-in-Wharfedale.”

Over the last six years, Incommunities has invested over £7.5 million in improving tenants’ homes in the Wharfe Valley.

Incommunities are building a further 144 new homes on eight sites across the district over the next two years with the backing of £8.9 million funding agreed by the Homes and Communities Agency.
