Housing team out to make a splash in charity race

11 May 2009

The team of managers, office staff and operatives working for the housing group’s buildingservices will join around 30 more teams in a dragon boat race at Roundhay Park lake, Leeds, on Monday, May 25.

They are taking part to support the West Yorkshire hospice who cared for work colleague Brian Wright’s young daughter Lauren until she sadly passed away in 2007. Hospice staff also provided valuable support to the family.

Incommunities has paid the £200 entry fee for the team who are hoping to raise over £1000 in donations for the hospice.

Martin House opened in 1987 and has cared for over 1300 children and young people. It relies on donations towards its work and annual running costs of £3.9 million.

Greg Robinson, Director of Incommunities – buildingservices said: “The team are delighted to be taking part in memory of Brian’s daughter Lauren and supporting Martin House.

“The charity provides vital care and support for many local children and we want to raise as much money as possible to support their excellent work.

“The team are looking forward to the big race and are hoping to rule the waves on the day.”
