Volunteers are being sought for an innovative new community project coming to the Keighley area.
Incommunities is linking up with the Council’s Keighley Area Co-ordinator’s Office, Community Service Volunteers (CSV) and community groups to launch Dreamscheme – a project which aims to bring young people together to improve life on their estate and neighbourhood.
It could involve anything from creating a community garden or setting up an arts project to learning how to cook or organising a clean up.
Dreamscheme is based on a simple idea – work equals points equals reward. Every young person taking part earns points for the work they do and these can then be cashed in for a day trip or other fun activity.
To get the scheme up and running, Incommunities is looking for volunteers aged 18 and over who have some spare time to give to work with young people on local projects. Each volunteer will be given training by CSV.
Incommunities are hoping to set up Dreamscheme projects at Braithwaite, Guardhouse, Bracken Bank and other areas but it all depends on volunteers coming forward.
Last month, young people in South Bradford took part in a Dreamscheme project which involved young people cooking and hosting a lunch for senior citizens.
Zabair Rasul, Director of Incommunities – aire-wharfe office said: “We want to here from local volunteers who have some time to give to work with young people and are committed to making a difference in their community.
“Dreamscheme is a terrific opportunity for everyone involved – young and old – to come together to improve their neighbourhood, tackle issues that are important to them and learn new life skills.
“If you want to help turn a dream into a reality get in touch now.”
