Incommunities has announced plans to carry out a major modernisation scheme to over 130 rented homes in Addingham.
The investment totalling £2.9 million will include homes at Aynholme Drive, Aynholme Close, Cockshott Place, Craven Crescent, Green Lane and School Lane.
Incommunities staff will first carry out surveys of each property to assess the improvements needed to every home. The work will include fitting new kitchens and bathrooms and also rendering work to some properties.
The modernisation work at Addingham is due to start in Summer 2009.
Ken Nicholson, Director of Incommunities - Regeneration and Development said: “As a caring and responsible social landlord, staff will work closely with all tenants on these improvements which will include offering them a choice of fittings and making sure they go as smoothly as possible.
“These works will bring tenants’ homes up to the Bradford Standard – a level in excess of the Government’s Decent Homes Standard. It continues Incommunities multi-million pound investment to modernise homes in the Wharfe Valley and across the whole district.
In Burley-in-Wharfedale work is well underway to modernise 130 Incommunities homes. The £1.8 million programme includes replacing and fitting new bathrooms and kitchens and installing new central heating to those homes which need it.
Between 2004 and 2006, 80 Incommunities homes in the village were refurbished inside and out.
At the Lawn, in Burley-in-Wharfedale, work is progressing well to create 29 high quality apartments in a flagship scheme by Incommunities. The transformation of the historic manor house on the village site into 14 one and two bedroom homes has now been completed and these are currently being marketed.
Next to it, a new block of 15 apartments is being built and these will be available for people over 55 years of age.
The £2.7 million scheme is being built for Incommunities by Strategic Team Group and will offer a mix of homes for rent and shared ownership.
Incommunities has hosted a number of very successful open days for local home hunters which have included viewings of the show apartments. The Lawn site is due to be fully completed in the Summer.
Over the last six years, Incommunities has investment over £7.5 million in improving tenants homes in the Wharfe Valley area including Ilkley.
At Dale Court in Ilkley consultations are taking place with residents as part of plans to draw up a major redevelopment for the Ilkley sheltered scheme. Architects are currently working on plans for the site.
