Incommunities has teamed up with the Homes and Communities Agency, EDF Energy and eaga – a leading provider of energy efficiency solutions – to giveaway thousands of long life light bulbs to its customers.
Each Incommunities household (22,000 homes) will be sent four energy efficient light bulbs. The bulbs have a life span ten times longer than normal bulbs and an energy usage 80% less than a standard one.
Incommunities is one of the first housing associations to take part in the scheme and residents will receive their free light bulbs from this week (from 9 March).
In total the scheme nationally aims to save 1.14 million tonnes of carbon dioxide over a ten year period, which would equate to over 230,000 Olympic-size swimming pools.
Jo Lewis, Incommunities Energy Saving Officer said: “We are delighted to be teaming up with Homes and Communities Agency, EDF Energy and eaga to provide these free light bulbs.
“At a time of rising energy prices, this free offer will help our tenants save money and at the same time cut their carbon footprint. This initiative follows our successful free energy saving surgeries for our customers held across the district.
“As the area’s biggest social housing landlord we are committed to helping make our homes more environmentally sustainable.”
