Housing group host Dutch visit

26 May 2010

Senior housing officials from Holland are visiting the area’s biggest social landlord, Incommunities this week (25-27 May) to learn more about its work and also share experiences.

Incommunities Group Chief Executive Geraldine Howley, senior management and board members will host the group’s visit. They come from Stek Wonen, a housing group which owns and manages around 6,000 properties.

The visitors will hear about how Incommunities works with its customers to develop its services, its approach to governance and involving tenants and its strong commitment to partnership working at local, regional and national levels.

Incommunities managers will also hear how housing associations in Holland work with communities and at government level.

During their visit, the Dutch officials will learn about Incommunities’ multi million pound modernisation programme to local homes and look at some of the new affordable homes they have built. The officials will also visit open moves, a one-stop housing options service run in partnership with Bradford Council to provide advice and support to local people.

Geraldine Howley, Incommunities Group Chief Executive said: “This is the second time we have hosted senior officials from Stek Wonen and we are delighted to share with them how we are working to deliver our vision to provide homes of 1st choice and be a partner and employer of 1st choice.

“Our visitors will get a good insight into the breadth of our work. This includes how we are providing services which go beyond just housing to enhance peoples’ lives and the communities they live in. We are also looking forward to hearing and learning about their approach to delivering services and working within communities.”
