Incommunities tenants living in the aire-wharfe area are being invited to find out more about local training courses with the launch of free weekly drop-in sessions.
Starting next week (18 March) learning workshops will take place every Wednesday at the housing group’s aire-wharfe office at 6 -14 Devonshire Street in Keighley.
Tenants will be able to talk to a training advisor from Craven College about different training opportunities from basic computing and introduction to Horticulture to NVQ level courses in childcare and being a teaching assistant.
They can also find out about part-time and full-time courses being run in local areas.
The weekly workshops are being run in association with Keighley Learning Partnership which includes The Highfield Centre, The Sangat Centre, The Rainbow Centre, Smallworld, KVS and the Extended Schools Network.
Zabair Rasul, Director of Incommunities – aire-wharfe office said: “As a caring and customer focused social landlord we want to help people develop their life skills, encourage them to access employment and also overcome any barriers they may face to work and training.
“These workshops will give our customers the opportunity to find out more about the many courses available to them locally. We are also looking at hosting a job club in the future working with Keighley Learning Partnership.”
Andrea Astin, Craven College’s Project Co-ordinator for Keighley said: “This is an exciting new learning opportunity and we are delighted that Incommunities are hosting these free workshops.
“We are also looking for community centres in the Keighley area to host courses for adults. Anyone who feels that they would like to join one of our courses or would like us to run courses at their venue should contact me on 07702 899622.”
The workshops will take place every Wednesday between 1pm and 4pm in the training room at aire-wharfe’s office.
