Incommunities – the district’s biggest social landlord - has completed more new affordable homes for local home hunters.
Last week, six family-sized homes at Wilson Road in Wyke were handed over to the housing group to release for rent.
They included two three-bedroom terrace homes, two three-bedroom semis and two four-bedroom semis and feature spacious lounges with feature fire, fitted kitchen and bathrooms. They also benefit from gas central heating, gardens front and back and parking areas.
This week (20 Jan) six new three-bedroom homes also at Wilson Road will be released under Incommunities’ shared ownership scheme.
In June 2008, 15 homes at Wilson Road including two specially designed properties for disabled tenants were completed. These have been let for rent to local people through Bradford Homehunter, Incommunities’ choice-based lettings system.
The Wilson Road development totalling 32 homes for Incommunities is being supported by a £1.64 million Social Housing grant and additional funding from the housing group.
The completion of the South Bradford homes comes ‘hot on the heels’ of the handover of the first four Incommunities homes for rent at Burnham Avenue in Bierley.
In total 78 family sized homes are being built in Bierley for Incommunities in a development partnership which includes Richardson Projects Ltd and Firebird JVC.
Lesley Clough, who recently moved from Holme Wood into her new three bedroom home at Burnham Avenue, said: “My house is really well designed and lovely and warm for my children. It’s got a nice garden for them to play out and parking as well. Incommunities were really helpful and helped make my move go smoothly.”
Rachel Preston moved into her smart new three-bedroom house at Burnham Avenue with her three sons last month and is delighted with her home.
She said: “The property is perfect and I’m sure we will be really happy here.”
Both tenants applied for their new homes through Bradford Homehunter.
In March 2009 eight more three-bedroom homes for rent at Heath Hall Avenue in Bierley are due to be handed over to Incommunities.
Geraldine Howley, Incommunities’ Group Chief Executive said: “We are delighted to be providing these new affordable homes and are developing plans to build more properties in the district to help local families and people get onto the property ladder.”
Jez Lester, Incommunities’ Assistant Chief Executive – asset management said: “We are committed to providing high quality affordable homes for local people available for rent and low cost home ownership. The release of these new homes in Bierley and Wyke follows recent completions of homes in Allerton, Burley-in-Wharfedale, Cullingworth and Keighley.
“So far we have completed 110 new homes in the district and over 120 more are underway.”
Incommunities currently has new shared ownership homes available at Allerton, Cullingworth Keighley and Wyke.
