To make sure everyone has fair and equal access to our services we sent you an ‘Everybody Counts’ Tenant Census form with the Spring edition of your @home newsletter in March this year. The census form contained lots of questions about you, other people who may live in your household and your needs. The census is very important because it will give us up-to-date information on what your needs are and how we can meet them.
The information that you have given us by completing the census form, will help us to adapt our services appropriately to meet your needs. For example, this may mean contacting you by phone rather than in writing, arranging for documents to be sent in large print, or if we know you have a disability that makes it hard for you to answer the door, we can make sure our staff know this when they visit your home. The everybody counts census was your chance to tell us how we can provide the best service for you!
It is very important that our records are updated and accurate. For example, the people living in your household may have increased since the last time we asked you this as you may have had a child. Also, you may have become disabled since you first became a tenant and we need to know what your needs are now. For these reasons, we have to ask for information on a regular basis and the more we know the better service we can give.
There was a separate census form for homeowner customers (leaseholders).
We also want to make sure all groups can access our services and that we are delivering them fairly. To do this we have asked for specific information about your ethnic origin, your religion, your sexual orientation and so on. This information will be used only for monitoring. We understand that some of the information we are asking for is very personal; we will treat all sensitive personal information confidentially and it will be stored in accordance with the Data Protection Act. If there were any questions that you did not want to answer, then there was the ‘Prefer Not to Say’ option.
