New Chair Designate appointed at Incommunities

Steve Close

Yorkshire-based housing association Incommunities has appointed Together Housing Group CEO Steve Close to its Board. Steve has joined Incommunities as Chair Designate, ahead of current Board Chair Jan Ormondroyd’s retirement in September.

Steve is leading a review of Incommunities’ Committee structure and the recruitment of two further Board members who will join the organisation in April when Simon Wilson and Keith Ramsay will step down from the Board. Steve’s early appointment and involvement in the future Board membership will ensure a smooth transition of roles prior to Jan’s retirement.

Steve is currently Chief Executive at Together Housing Group, which manages more than 36,000 homes in the North of England and is retiring from Together in March this year. He has spent more than 40 years in the housing sector, including more than 30 as a Chief Executive.

Rachael Dennis, Chief Executive, Incommunities, said: "I am delighted to welcome Steve as our forthcoming new Board Chair – this is an exciting time to join Incommunities and he is a great contribution to our team and our future. Our new two-year plan is all about getting the foundations in place to ensure customers are at the heart of our business, we are investing in properties and communities so they are places people are proud to live, and we have a culture where colleagues thrive. Ensuring we have a strong Board and governance at Incommunities is central to this, and I am sure Steve’s expertise will help us drive these changes forward."

Steve added: "Working at Together I have witnessed the great things happening at Incommunities and understand the challenges and opportunities facing both the housing sector and Yorkshire region. I look forward to working with Rachael, the Board, and colleagues across the business, on delivering their new ambitious growth, service improvement, and investment targets."
