Tips for keeping your home safe and warm

We want your home to feel safe, warm, and like a place you’re proud to call yours. To help with that, we’ve put together some top tips for keeping your home in great shape.

  • If your home is fitted with a fan in either your kitchen or bathroom, keep it on for as long as possible. Keeping the fan on for longer won’t leave you with a large electricity bill as they use very little energy and will improve the air quality in your home.

  • Make sure you know where your stop tap is in your home and how to turn the tap off. The stop tap will allow you to turn the water off in your home, in an emergency. Stop taps are usually located under the sink in kitchens.

  • Make sure the air vents, radiators and heaters in your home are kept clear. When you can, leave windows open in your home to allow air to circulate throughout.

  • If you need to dry washing indoors, make sure you place washing in a place where there the air can circulate, for example, on an airer near an open window.

  • Regularly wipe down windows to avoid a build up of condensation.

  • Look out for missing or broken roof tiles and report these to us as soon as you can.
