£2,000 Donation Splits Joy Between Two Bradford Foodbanks
Two Bradford foodbanks have each received a £1,000 donation this Christmas thanks to support from the employees at housing provider Incommunities.
Instead of sending Christmas cards this year, Incommunities asked staff to nominate and vote for charities that they would like to benefit from a £2,000 donation. The winning charity was Bradford foodbanks.
The two foodbanks receiving the much needed cash are Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank and Bradford Central Foodbank.
Other charities that were nominated for the £2,000 donation were Andy’s Man Club, West Yorkshire Dog Rescue, and Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Speaking of the donation, Janey Carey Executive Director of Customer and Communities at Incommunities said: “We have a strong relationship with the foodbanks across the Bradford district thanks to the vital work that they do supporting local people. So, it’s great that our colleagues also recognise this fantastic work and have chosen the foodbanks to benefit from this Christmas donation.
“Our staff support the local communities across Bradford, particularly at Christmas. For example, some colleagues went to Sandale Trust to help wrap over 300 presents for Sandale’s Secret Santa Appeal. And more than 100 toys were donated by our staff to the Salvation Army Toy Appeal this year.”
Graham Walker from Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank said: “We expect to give out over 15,000 bags in 2023, and this is only possible because of the efforts of our co-ordinator, our volunteers and the generosity of individual and corporate donors. We are grateful to Incommunities for their vital and continued support”
