Bradford City Village

Bradford City Village aims to create a sustainable new residential neighbourhood in the heart of Bradford’s city centre.

City Village has been billed as Bradford’s most ambitious regeneration initiative since the 1970s. It will take an area that once thrived with retail and commerce and breathe new life into it as a vibrant place to live, work, and play.

Incommunities has been selected as ECF’s preferred funding partner to deliver the first phase of townhouses. Terms have been agreed, and we are currently progressing legal agreements ahead of a planning application being submitted in early August.

Rachael Dennis, Chief Executive of Incommunities, said: “This is a flagship project for our city, and we’re proud to be part of it. As Bradford’s largest housing provider and an organisation deeply rooted in the district, no one is more invested in seeing the city centre thrive than we are. City Village is about creating a place where people feel they belong – a vibrant, inclusive neighbourhood at the heart of Bradford. It’s the start of an important journey, and we’re looking forward to working closely with the council, our partners and the community to help bring the vision to life as part of Bradford’s wider regeneration story.”

The scheme will deliver around 1,000 high-quality, environmentally friendly new homes right in the city centre.  But City Village isn’t just about housing.

Alongside those homes, the plan brings:

  • New public green spaces and parks – giving city-centre residents places to relax and children to play.

  • Safer, pedestrian-friendly streets – by rerouting traffic and creating walkable connections, it will knit the city together in a more human way.

  • Revitalised shops and leisure – incorporating independent retail, cafes, restaurants, and leisure opportunities to complement the existing businesses.

  • Modern workspaces and offices – ensuring that as people move in, jobs and innovation move in too.

City Village is a partnership effort. Bradford Council, Incommunities, and the English Cities Fund (ECF) through Muse Developments are all collaborating to make it happen. It exemplifies the kind of public-private partnership that can unlock truly transformational projects.

Members of the public can view the new plans and illustrations and share their thoughts at bradfordcityvillage.com until 18 June, or drop into a pop-up engagement hub at the Kirkgate Shopping Centre or go to the Bradford City Village website for further information.
