More than 2,000 homes visited during Big Conversation 2026
Colleagues from across Incommunities has visited almost 2,000 homes across Bradford to ask customers what they think about their homes, streets and neighbourhoods and what they would like to see improved.
More than 200 colleagues spent the day knocking on doors and listening to customers on 30 September.
Teams visited Clayton, Haworth Road in Heaton, Huddersfield, Lower Grange, Undercliffe and Woodside for the 'Big Conversation 2026'.
Customers were asked:
- How they would describe their neighbourhood in one word
- What they like most about their neighbourhood
- What they would like to see improved
- Whether they feel safe where they live
The questions were designed to help us understand what matters most to customers and where we can work with local partners to make a difference.
The feedback will now be reviewed and will help to shape local neighbourhood plans and future improvements.
This is the second time we have held the Big Conversation. Last year, teams visited Holme Wood and Bierley, Ravenscliffe and Greengates, Keighley, Fagley, and Great Horton and Bankfoot to hear from customers.

Listening and taking action
Janey Carey, Executive Director of Customer and Community took part in The Big Conversation.
She said: “It was great to spend time in our neighbourhoods and hear directly from customers. Thank you to everyone who opened their door and shared their views with us.
“We spoke to hundreds of customers, and what they told us will help us understand what is working well and what needs to improve.
“As we did with last year's Big Conversation feedback, we will now look carefully at all the feedback. We will share what we have learned and explain the action we plan to take.
“The Big Conversation is an important part of being visible in our communities. It also gives colleagues from across Incommunities the chance to see our neighbourhoods through our customers' eyes.”
Lynne Pearson, Development Manager, visited customers in Clayton. She said: “Being part of the development and regeneration team means we don't often meet customers face to face. However, our customers and their homes are at the heart of what Incommunities does, so it was great to take part in the Big Conversation.
“I really enjoyed meeting customers. We got some lovely feedback, and it was great to see that many people are actually really happy with where they live, and the services we provide.”
Building on last year's feedback
The first Big Conversation received 1,450 survey responses. Customers said they valued quiet neighbourhoods, community spirit, good neighbours, being close to family and good transport links.
They also highlighted areas where they wanted to see improvements, including anti-social behaviour, speeding vehicles, e-scooters, fly-tipping, litter and crime, as well as more activities for young people.
Since then, we have:
- Started developing plans for individual neighbourhoods
- Recruited more Neighbourhood Housing Officers and reduced the size of the areas they support
- Installed CCTV cameras in fly-tipping hotspots
- Worked more closely with councils, the police and the fire service through partnership meetings
- Worked with local police teams to coordinate action on e-bikes and quad bikes
This year's feedback will now help Incommunities to develop neighbourhood plans for Clayton, Haworth Road in Heaton, Huddersfield, Lower Grange, Undercliffe and Woodside.
