Community Hubs

Community Hubs

In the last six months, we've opened two new Community Hubs - one in Holme Wood and one in Bradford City Centre - bringing the total to five.

Our Hubs make it easier for customers to get in touch with us. You can drop in to speak to our team, report repairs, get advice, or access our services - all in one place.

Days of Action

Days of Action

We've held six Days of Action across our communities. These events give colleagues and customers the chance to work together and make a difference, from litter picking and painting to removing bulky waste and talking about local issues like rubbish and fly-tipping.

The Big Conversation

The Big Conversation

Over the summer, we ran our first Big Conversation across five communities - and the response was fantastic:

  • 305 colleagues from all parts of the organisation took part
  • We knocked on 3,883 doors
  • 1,450 customers completed our survey on the day

The feedback we gathered has been incredibly useful. It's already helping us shape local neighbourhood plans, focus on what matters most to customers, and strengthen partnerships with Bradford Council and the Police.

On a local level, this is what we’ve been up to in your area…

We aim to make a positive contribution towards your neighbourhood by keeping it clean and safe, and by making sure you have access to usable, well-maintained spaces. Here are some of the practical improvements our teams have been working on - all in addition to the regular services we provide.

Holme Wood and Buttershaw

Through partnership working with community groups in Holme Wood and Buttershaw, we provided funding to Sandale Centre to deliver activities and lunches to local children. We also funded a coach to take local children to Yorkshire Safari Park.

Following a health and safety assessment, the children's play park on Strensall Green was removed and replaced with all new equipment.

In partnership with Bradford Council, we ran a large-scale community clean-up of land in Buttershaw.

We put in extra fencing and secure gates around three fly tip hot spots in Allerton. The fencing has already helped to reduce fly tipping.

We've installed anti-vandal/climb paint, a Tannoy system, and additional CCTV at the high-rise blocks on Manchester Road. The 85 homes within the blocks have now seen a lot less anti-social behaviour.

Keighley and surrounding areas

We've put up fencing in areas around North Dean Road, Whinfield Avenue and Coronation Way. This has helped to reduce problems with anti-social behaviour, neighbour upset and fly tipping.

The community clean-up and improvements to open spaces in Parkwood Rise have improved the look of the area. The Neighbourhood Housing Officer is now working with local residents to make even more improvements.

Working with a newly established community group, we levelled and made safe land that was routinely fly-tipped near the Firbank Green Allotments in Fagley. The land has now been developed into a community allotment by the community groups and local schools.

We replaced boundary fencing in Swainhouse. This has helped to improve neighbourhood relationships.

Wyke, Canterbury and outside Bradford

Residents in Canterbury told us that they wanted more inviting and useable community spaces, so we've added hedging, wildflower meadows and community benches.

We've improved parking on Backstone Way, a narrow street with houses and flats. After listening to residents, we've created new off-street parking bays by changing part of the communal garden space, helping to ease congestion, improve the area and improve neighbour relationships.

After hearing that hedges on Raistrick Way, Windhill were causing customers to worry about the safety of people walking to the local primary school, we cut them back and made them safe.

New signage was installed in Bingley and Windhill to tackle parking issues, dog fouling and damage to properties.
