£15 million investment at Kennedy House in Keighley
Residents at Kennedy House in Keighley are on the cusp of a full upgrade of their building and homes.
A planning application has been submitted to Bradford Council for a full upgrade of the 99 home, 13-story building.
Residents at Kennedy House have been involved in the preplanning consultation, including choosing the proposed colour for the exterior of the building; stone and bronze render.
The proposed upgrades to Kennedy House are substantial, including significant investment inside and outside the building, with a big focus on fire safety. As part of the plans, a new sprinkler and fire alarm system would be installed in every flat and shared spaces of the building. Additionally, all homes will get new kitchens, bathrooms and windows as part of the refurbishment.
There would also be a new accessible, larger entrance area, and a new communal room with outdoor space.
The plans also include increasing the size of the car park, which would mean the need to remove some trees to make space for a bigger car park. To make up for this, we'll be working with a bio-diversity team to understand what the expectations on ourselves are and how we fulfil these.
Nick Warden, Head of Assets at Incommunities said, “This is substantial investment designed to make all the homes at Kennedy House safer, more comfortable and give the building a fresh, modern look.
“Residents at Kennedy House have, and will be involved in this process every step of the way. It's a complex piece of work that is likely to take a number of years to complete from planning to completion. It's an investment into the future of the building, so input from the people who live there is absolutely crucial.”
The £15 million investment at Kennedy House is part of a wider £148 million planned investment work in our blocks and homes over the next 5 years. This is our commitment to make our customers' homes a safer place, where they can be proud to live.
