A group of Buttershaw youngsters are taking a special pathway into work thanks to employment coaches at Incommunities housing group.
The young people aged 15 and 16 are doing a City and Guilds Level 1 course in employability and personal development run by the housing group.
The course aims to put the learners in a strong position to enter the jobs market by helping them develop a positive attitude to work, build their interview skills and research potential employers.
Each young person is also receiving one to one coaching to develop their confidence and help them set their own goals for the future.
The second part of their learning will involve the group getting a taste of different construction skills at Incommunities’ training terrace. They will also learn more about vocational training opportunities such as apprenticeship.
The course is collaboration between business engagement staff at Buttershaw Business and Enterprise College and the housing group’s employability team.
Adrienne Reid, Incommunities’ Assistant Chief Executive, Neighbourhood, said: "We are delighted to be running this training partnership with Buttershaw Business and Enterprise College aimed at equipping these youngsters with the skills and confidence to enter the world of work.
"As well as running group-based learning, we will be offering each participant valuable work experience with Incommunities."
